WORK WITH TARASEC

Enormous ambitions need many contributors.

TaraSec aims to change how networks cooperate against cybercrime. It is owned by Taransvar, a small Norwegian nonprofit. We cannot research, build, test, govern and establish global cooperative cybersecurity alone.

MORE THAN A VACANCY PAGE

Take responsibility for a meaningful part of the mission.

People can contribute through paid roles, project assignments, research collaboration, student work, technical development, introductions, pilots or voluntary participation.

Some roles are advertised formally. Others begin when someone identifies a useful task, relevant partner or test that TaraSec needs. What matters is whether the work moves the project forward responsibly.

This page describes the work and the partners TaraSec needs. Individual advertisements can link here for the wider picture.

CONTRIBUTIONS SHOULD BE REWARDED

People who create value should benefit when resources and opportunities become available.

Taransvar is an NGO with limited resources, so we must be honest about what is funded. We do not, however, expect an ambitious global system to be built by invisible, unrewarded labour.

01

Paid work

Employment or project assignments when funding is available and responsibilities are clearly defined.

02

Project participation

A role—and where appropriate a share of funding—in research, pilots, deployments and partnership projects that a contributor helps create.

03

Documented merit

Recognition of demonstrated work, responsible operation, useful introductions, research, testing, documentation and other verified contributions.

04

Responsibility and opportunity

Greater influence and new opportunities as contributors prove that they can move important parts of TaraSec forward.

No particular reward can be promised before it is funded or agreed. The principle is nevertheless clear: genuine contributions should be visible, recognised and rewarded fairly.

PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Find the organisations TaraSec cannot succeed without.

Partnership work is not simply conventional sales. It means understanding enough about TaraSec to identify where another organisation's interests and capabilities meet the project.

A person working with partnerships will find the right people, make relevant first contact, explain TaraSec in language that matters to them, follow up systematically and help turn interest into a meeting, research project, pilot, deployment or funding proposal.

The work also runs in the other direction: objections, operational requirements and specialist knowledge from potential partners must be brought back into TaraSec's design and priorities.

WHAT THE WORK CAN INVOLVE

From first contact to practical cooperation.

Research

Identify relevant organisations, programmes and decision-makers instead of sending generic messages.

Outreach

Prepare a credible introduction tailored to what each potential partner can contribute and gain.

Follow-up

Maintain a clear record of contacts, responses, commitments and next actions.

Build cooperation

Help shape meetings, experiments, events, applications, pilots and agreements with clear responsibilities.

PARTNERS WE ARE LOOKING FOR

A cooperative security network needs very different capabilities.

Internet providers & telecoms

Test cooperation between networks, persistent technical unit identity, signalling, remediation and deployment at meaningful scale.

Universities & researchers

Challenge the technical, legal, economic, governance and societal assumptions through independent research.

Banks & attack-sensitive services

Bring operational needs, realistic threat scenarios and environments where better source-side cooperation could matter.

Governments & public institutions

Contribute to standards, public-interest governance, critical infrastructure, research and responsible adoption.

Cybersecurity organisations

Connect firewalls, honeypots, threat intelligence, incident response and existing security products to cooperative reporting.

Technology companies

Support networking, hosting, AI, mobile applications, privacy, identity, interoperability and production architecture.

NGOs & community organisations

Help test affordable connectivity, community hotspots, local participation and deployments that serve people responsibly.

Funders & impact investors

Finance independent research, pilots, nonprofit infrastructure and teams capable of carrying the work forward.

WHO MAY FIT

Expertise helps. Initiative and credibility matter more.

A partnership role does not require someone to begin as a cybersecurity expert. TaraSec can supply technical material and help prepare meetings.

Useful qualities include curiosity, persistence, sound judgement, honest communication and the ability to understand what different organisations care about. The person must be comfortable saying what TaraSec has demonstrated, what remains experimental and where a partner's expertise is genuinely needed.

Technical specialists, researchers, writers, organisers and people with relevant institutional networks may contribute in different ways.

CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES

Ask what needs doing—or show us.

Current paid, part-time or project-specific opportunities will be presented here as they are confirmed. We also welcome relevant proposals from people who can identify a concrete contribution, partner, research question or pilot.

When responding to a separate job advertisement, mention the advertisement and explain briefly how your experience fits the work described on this page.

TARASEC CANNOT DO THIS ALONE

If you can move one important part forward, we want to hear from you.

Tell us what you could contribute, which partners or field you understand, and what kind of cooperation you are looking for.
