Tagging & threat-information exchange
How should risk information travel with or alongside traffic across independent networks?
Current experiment
TaraSec currently experiments with the TCP urg_ptr field as a lightweight marker and richer threat information in a separate message. This is intentionally provisional.
Research questions
Compare in-band and out-of-band signaling, compatibility with middleboxes, authenticity, replay resistance, standards implications, performance, IPv6 behavior and deployment on infrastructure TaraSec does not control.
A strong project should propose alternatives and test them against real or simulated network paths.
Discuss it with the TaraSec AI
Ask it to trace where tagging is implemented today, compare alternative mechanisms and identify which source components would need to change.
